Which books/magazines etc contain the most 'up to date' rules for Runequest/Legend for following ~

Whales and Dolphins ? I have Whale Stats in RQ II Vikings
Whips ?
Lasso ?

Plus being pointed to most most recent rules and stats on sailing vessels ( including Schooners ) would help.

Sailing and Ships are ibn RQ Pirates - you should be abel to pick up a PDF copy fairly easily.

Nope no Whips or Lassos in the core rules or equipment manual.
I suppose you could use stats for a net (which DOES exist) and increase the damage to 1d6 maybe.

As to a lasso, I guess you could just use the net stats unchanged maybe, it's very similar.

I can confirm that ships examples and ship combat is in the equipment manual.

Hey there havercake, afaik the rules for ships are in the Elric Companion for MRQ1. the weapon tables for ballistas & catapults can be found in the Hawkmoon main rule book for1st Ed MRQ as they failed to make it into the Elric Companion. There's rules for the schooner and the brig in the old Chaosium release, Sailing on the seas of fate. I don't believe they have been updated since although I will check out my pirates book later when I get home..
If you don't have access of any of this, I can pm you with the details.
Iam not sure what ships are in the MRQ2equipment guide. I took it as good advice not to make that particular purchase.

Thanks for reply. I have the Elric Companion and SotSoF, I was just checking if any more recent version of ships etc had been added to RQ/Legend.
beside schoonersthe MM canon has now placed cutters in the YK range of ship types..


Re weapons .. was the harpoon stats ever developed beyond those in the RQ 'Arms and Equpment' of 2006 ?

I thought you might do, Havercake. I've just checked the Pirates book.There's rules for Brigantines and Schooners. No Clippers, unfortunately.
Out of interest, which nation of the YK makes use of Clippers?

Duke Avan Astran (a Vilmirian) used a schooner and Elric also sailed on an Ilmioran schooner to Tarkesh.

I can't recall any canon material where Brigantines are Young Kingdom ships.

A 'Lormyrian cutter' is mentioned in 'Black Petals'.

I once ran a scenario about the ill fated attempts to construct a schooner in an Old Hrolmar dockyard.

It's not as bad as people make out, and besides, there's an errata you can apply to it.
I think it's worth the purchase, there's a mine of information in there.

Ah, sorry, have just realised that it's a cutter and not a clipper you are referring to. Bit of a difference there. You could use the stats for a sloop from the pirates book to represent a cutter. It appears to be a yacht style affair similar to a sloop but with a different mast position according to Wiki.
Also, have just discovered that Brig is not simply a shortened version of Brigantine......
