Many of the posts in the forums cover rules situations that very rarely come up in games (I still encounter them after playing the game for the best part of a year) and players are seeking guidance on what to do.
I can understand why this is so for tournaments - players who don't know each other need a commonly accepted rule set so they know what to expect from each other.
For a campaign though, many of the questions refer to situations that cannot have come up often, if at all, during play testing (my assumption is that if they did, then they would be explained far more articulately in the rules).
Asking for a ruling then, for a campaign game, on a forum will be arbitrary based on the whim/mood of what seems logical to the person answering the question at the time - i.e. there is little precedent and there may be no understanding of the context of the question and how it may effect the game you are specifically playing.
In short - I think that if it's a campaign game, unless the situation in absolutely clearly covered by the rules, then the players in the campaign should only need to come to the forum IF they can't find an amicable solution...i.e. the forum (rules masters or otherwise) is not the first place to go to but rather the last.
I think my point is best illustrated by such rulings as the AF trait on the Drakh Cruiser which anyone can see seems to be inconsistent with what it should be is now, by a one-off ruling by Matt who may have had a dozen other things on his mind that day, official.
What do you guys think? Should Rulesmasters be a matter of last resort or the first point of contact for every small detail?
