Ruins of Hyboria on PDF

I might have asked this before, but...

Has anyone purchased Ruins of Hyboria on PDF from either RPGNOW or DRIVETHRURPG? If so, were the illos in the book good quality (sharp, clear, legible)?

The reason I ask is that I've got the Atlantean Core Rules and Road of Kings on PDF and the graphics are VERY badly done (blurry, hard to read).

Thanks.

Just a question, but it absolutely makes no sense why anyone would buy a PDF when there's a book, that still is in print. I got one about 7 weeks ago.

OK the cost factor, fine but would you rather have a hardback book or a sheaf of 8x11 paper (which is what I had when I downloaded Modern D20)?

I can definitely see the point of pdf's, even though I'm not quite at my ease reading them yet (it obviously isnt the same thing as leafing through a book). Such luxuries aside my boxes and boxes of rpg stuff in the basement is proving an increasing inconvenience, especially when i ex- and repatriate. So pdf's get 10/10 for carryiability. I'm sure once I get my hands on a nice laptop (my stationary being my other big inconvenience) reading pdf's will be an easy pleasure.

I mean really it's come to the point where whenever I really feel like picking up a game I have to remind myself I'll have to stash it too...!!!

My main incentive to get PDFs is if the book is hard to come by otherwise.
It's also okay if you don't need to print it out - then you can actually save some money.

For example, I think that books needed mainly for character optimization are fine in a screen-only format. You do your character crunch at home, and you can do that at the computer as well.

OTOH, setting books are the ones you'll need at the gaming table, just like the core rules, you'll need to look up stuff and flip pages. Like Ruins of Hyboria. I have that as hardcover, too.

Using PDFs will require a laptop at the gaming table, I have tried that before (for PDFs and also to replace dice with a dice roller program) and it didn't convince me.

Yogah,

I do not know about Ruins of Hyborea, but I have noticed that some of the products that I have bought from RPGNow are little bit "grainier" than the printed copies I have compaired them to.

Don't know if this helps or not. :)

One thing I am noticing - and taking advantage of - is that there are some great deals out there on many of the Conan RPG books right now. I have Messantia and Hyboria's Finest on the way and paid just over $20 for them both. And they are brand new. If you want a pdf to save a few bucks, you might want to check for some deals on the net.

I have the Ruins in HC, but also like to get the PDF for searchability (is that a word...?). I've got the AE and RoK in PDF and it's made my life a lot easier. 8)
