Romulan Battle Hawk

If the Battle Hawk is of the old Eagle series, why does it have a "Hawk" name or is it just a flux that it has that name?

The Snipe and Falcon and Vulture are also "Eagle" series hulls. The whole generation of ships is named for its most widely-recognized class, but they aren't all Eagles.

Because when the Battle Hawk got its name no one new in 5 or 10 years a whole new series of ships would be produced and there was no point in going back and renaming the ship at that point.
