"Newest" implies a TL difference from the standard, but it is not otherwise noted.

Newest does NOT imply a TL difference from anything. (If built on a TL 11 planet it is TL 11) Newest, in the English language implies closest to the present time. As in, this is the newest car from Detroit.

( I apologize if English isn't your 1st or 2nd language.)

Which piece of software did you write up your revised Far Trader in? In particular am interested to know how you get the blue background to your text.

Thanks :)

LibreOffice Calc & cell shading.

'70s mainframes outputted on greenbar paper.

 I remember that fan-folded paper! Remember the noisier than hell line printers that we put into sound dampening enclosures to keep from going deaf while working in the computer areas?

what rule sets are you using to build these. I was just wanting to make sure I was on the same page with you.

In that the baseline designs are TL 12 and you are not using standard drive costs, it most certainly does. Document your process properly.

Yup.

Just got rid of a couple of boxes of green bar paper myself recently (80 and 132 column).

Would see blue bar paper on occasion as well.

In universe, you'll be in court for using second-hand hardware in a new ship.

In the real world, pray you are never in a position where an engineer holds control over your career.

Blue was probably some premium type. I saw it rarely. 80 & 132... Ah, the memories.

MGT CRB & HG

Bilstein Yards, Glisten

Ah, okay that makes it easier to figure out how you got the costs you have listed....

It's probably not a top of the line model...but for a workhorse vessel it would do the job. the Turrets make mail packet contract a possible income source.

I'd probably use it as a starter vessel for a new crew. cheap, with room for improvement. Of course could also see it as a ship a medium sized company would use to service routes that are less profitable, say support to facilities off the main trade routes.

It's of the same quality (but higher TL and thus, better amenities,) as the Far Trader in the rule book. It is for the Marches. You wouldn't have the hard point tonnage set asides in the Core areas.

It looks cool, but I'd miss having an air raft. If you want more cargo, you could go for the 3 ton grav car from the vehicles book (which also has the advantage of being sealed and having basic life support). That would cut the cargo down to 69 tons, but it would also allow the crew to keep the ship in orbit while negotiating deals on the surface, or various other useful tactics.

Air rafts are cool but, no merchant worth his business acumen would sacrifice 3 tons of cargo space for the extremely rare times that he needs an air raft.

3 tons?! Wow, that's the displacement of an M1A2 Main Battle Tank. Probably be better to get a 4 passenger, 1 ton model and load it last into the cargo hold. Or, just rent one for a few hundred credits for thoserare times when you need one.
