Repair table fix

There is a repair table on page 150. It seems easy enough to use, requiring less spare parts the better the mechanic or engineer check. But the line "plus severity of the critical hit" is unclear to me on how it is to modify the table result. I think this might need cleaned up or simplified. Or at least explained with a short example.
 
I think it should actually say MINUS the Severity of the Critical Hit.

An example: Welshy, the engineer, has Engineer (power plant) 2.

He is trying to jury-rig the Power Plant. The plant has received a Critical Hit with Severity 3 (Thrust Reduced by 1, Power reduced by 50% per page 159).

So Welshy rolls a 9+2 for Skill AND -3 for Severity = 8 and barely gets the Power Plant back to full capacity, but it will fail again within an hour.

I just noticed that throughout the Critical Hit Effects table on page 159 it uses the term "reduced by -1". Technically, that means it INCREASED by 1 (double-negative). I should say "xx reduced by 1".
 
For the second time today Rikki, I think you are dead on. I think that is the way it should be, and maybe was intended as such.
 
Since you are on such a roll maybe you could figure out or weigh in on the auto fire and aiming question/issue over in combat. That has me stymied
 
Actually, I am reading those now... :)

BUT, I am an engineer, not a fighter. Most of the combat stuff I leave to others who know more about muzzle velocities and recoil than I do. I just comment there when it affects playability
