Reft Sector Goodness

I'd concur with that. Given some of the things that happened to me just because one of the inner circle made an (entirely invented) accusation, one might wonder iat the sort of influence these people have.

Martin, I'd forgotten you were supposed to be doing the Living Traveller stuff. It's yet another pity that you're not involved any more.
The MWM situation kinda reminds me of this;

That's inspired! Fantastically apposite image.

But as in this case they are not working for a dark lord, we can but remember:
Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

If there was a dark lord behind it all, at least he might be consistent. The problem at present is like tossing your manuscript into a sackful of cats.

If you ask for clarification on a canon issue, chances are you'll get no reply the first x times you ask the same question (where x is a random number always greater than zero).

If you don't ask for clarification but take a best guess, then you get to roll on the random response table, which can produce results ranging from nothing at all to a requirement to discuss the matter (bringing you to the same result as asking during the writing phase, ie you get to wait for an indeterminate time until someone deigns to respond).

If you're really lucky you might be treated to a confusing and possibly abusive response that looks like it comes from MWM and is thus a 'definite client requirement' but might actually be nothing more than the opinions of a fanboy who has Marc's ear, which you may or may not be required to act upon, ignore or discuss. Presumably you're supposed to guess which it is.

The setup at that end is completely broken. I spelled out (repeatedly) what was necessary to make it work, and was in fact promised that matters would improve..... but the bottom line is that Marc just isn't able or willing to work like that - presumably he likes his present setup and everyone else is expected to deal with it.

True enough. We Dark Lords tend to have better control over our followers than that.

LOL.

It would appear in this case that the followers have a lot of control. And it has been abused on a frequent basis.

Well, the situation is not (as far as I can see) fixable. I've tried repeatedly and have received several promises or agreements about how things will be done, but the end result is always the same:

MWM fails to respond to communications much of the time, or forgets about something important to the project because he's distracted by something he finds more interesting.

The expected course of action seems to be to go through the head fanboy, who will very kindly prod Marc for a response on your behalf. And insert his own agenda, write feeedback as if it comes from MWM, and generally confuse the issue while he pursues his own agenda.

End result is delays and general messing-about, derailment of a project and a lot of aggravation for the writer.

I enventually said that I could not work under those conditions. That got me a promise that things would be sorted out. It did not materialise, so I'm out. I need to make a living and I can do it elsewhere with far less aggravation and more certainty of acutally getting the job finished and out the door.

Dyspraxia is an interesting condition that is not that widely known about (not as widely as dyslexia for instance). I've recently had to deal with a couple of dyspraxic students and it's an interesting, if frustrating, experience.

Now what has this got to do with this thread?...

Actually, we should probably self-moderate the thread as I doubt it is doing Mongoose and MGT any good.

I would concur. Once I heard MJD was done, my interest level in th game dropped precipitously. Now having played for a while, I've determined that I don't really care for the OTU after all, so I'm kind of interested in what Martin may be working on now...

As to self-moderation... I bit my tongue for a long, long time because I didn't want to rock the boat with MWM. Now that other people have managed to destroy that relationship for me, I'm not so worried.

My opinions are not those of Mongoose publishing, and the things I've mentioned actually happened, so I don't have any problem with discussing them.

Does whatever you are working on require the MGT Core book? If so, i'd say it's not only NOT discourteous to discuss, but actually quite helpful! If it's entirely self-contained, then yea, i can understand.

It needs the Mongoose book, yes.

Other third party Traveller products have been discussed on here, no reason another couldn't be. If one is using one of the available licenses.
