Rebinding defective hardcovers.

Mongoose
Just out of curiosity: did anyone try to repair at home one of the defective hardcover. My Elric hardcover rulebook - which was apparently in good shape when I bought it - has just begun loosing sheets and I wonder if I can salvage it in some way (I am quite fond of the hardback cover).

Alternatively: do you think I am entitled to a replacement with a sound softcover?

What I've done with the two books I bought that fell apart (one from Mongoose, and one from AEG) is buy a looseleaf binder and a bunch of page protectors, and put each sheet in a page protector and put the protectors in the binder. Not the cheapest solution, but it makes it available and actually makes it more convenient to scan in the pictures for PC handouts, etc.

I believe that Mongoose will substitute a new book for one that is damaged. I decided to go with the loose leaf binder solution. There are also the damaged books that I'm trying to get the comic store owner to sell to me for half price, but he'll neither sell them for half price nor return them to Mongoose for replacement. Those books may be out of print by now, anyway.

Mongoose would most likely exchange the defective book for a softcover version of it unless they have a hardcopy in good shape handy. Just e-mail sales@mongoosepublishing.com and they'll take care of you.

Alternately, you can take it to a copy place and have them Color Copy the front and back page, then laminate them. Then put the new covers and interior pages into a nice Coil binding. I did my D20 cthulhu book this way and it's still in great shape!

Have the pages actually started to fall out yet? I managed some preventive maintenance by pushing Elmer's Glue into the area between the bound pages and the outer spines of my books (using thin wooden stir sticks--my local cafe loves me).
