For these situations, I'd like to see "multi-crew" as a vehicle trait that allows independent use of ready actions for drivers and gunners.

There is no trait, and following this logic then why can't an infantry squad have some members move, and other shoot? The game is unit based not individual models, there are no special rules that allow any unit to do 2 different actions because they have more than one model in the unit.

Of course there is no trait. The "I'd like to see" part is a suggestion to cover vehicles with more than one crewman that serve distinctly separate roles.

btw, there actually is a special rule that I mentioned earlier that allows an infantry unit with more than one model to do two different actions in the same action phase. Gossard in the Roughneck squad can use his expert engineer skill no matter what the rest of the squad is doing. An exception for a unique character would make me think that an exception for a multi-crewed vehicle vs. a single crewed vehicle would be just as acceptable as a house rule than not.

Please note I'm not trying to be argumentative here, jsut sharing a perspective. My group does not play tournaments and we use the rules as a guideline, mostly since we believe miniatures games are inherently more open ended than boardgames that are played along very defined lines. In our setting, we get together and discuss what doesn't make sense to us as we would with any set of miniature rules from any company. We reach consensus and modify according to what makes sense for us. Do what works for you and your group and you can't go wrong.
