Always Alert - A combat droid has lightning fast reflexes and is always considered to be on Alert Status.

When reacting in this way, a model on Alert Status can perform one action after the enemy has completed its action or attack. It may only react once in this way, no matter how many models complete actions near it or how many times it gets shot at!

I'd like to clarify how these 2 rules interact. I understand that if any other model is on alert status it can only react once per turn, but how does the "always" in the combat droid's rule affect this? Does this mean that a combat droid can react multiple times per turn?

We play that it only reacts once.

Although I can certainly see that be always on alert, that once it had reacted it immediately goes back to being alert.

We found an amusing glitch - it is possible for the combat droid to Hide, but still react on alert. Therefore it is completely unassailable while able to shoot back!

We have got quite a few things wrong recently so being careful with my reply ;)

We play it once per turn - its just that it does not need to go on to Alert status to get this.

I think that being able to keep reacting in a single turn would be too much - presently its a cool, powerful and evocative ability but not overpowered?

That's why I'm asking the question, we played a game recently where a combat droid reacting repeatedly managed to take out an entire ape gang during their phase. The robot gang was clustered around the combat droid, so whenever anyone was shot at the droid could shoot back.

1. The Combat Droid gets to react once. If something seems too good to be true, it usually is :) Made a note of this in the book though.

2. Hiding while on Alert Status and shooting - and the same applies here. It is a rule that allows you to break line of sight, and if they cannot see you, how can you see them... If someone tries it for real in a game, they probably need a slapping as well.
