Question about EA ship markings.

Hi,
might finally get round to paingint my EA fleet. One question about markings.

On the Nova and Omega ships there is a letter on the lower part of the hull.

What does this letter designate?

Is it releated to the ship name?

Is it a squadron letter?

Any help would be great.

Hi
I think its the first letter of the ship name
all the OMEGA'S and NOVAs seem to tie in with that observation

you can get transfers for EA, NARN and fan heads from Griffon games in the US

and they look pretty darn cool as well :-)

I think that the letter has something to do with when or where the ship was built, what batch of ships it was part of. JMS says something about that in an audio commentary, season 3 IIRC (could be in Severed Dreams).

That's how it started off but by season 3 all of the letters were simply the first letter of the ship's name.

Maybe ships were named according to the year they came out...? ;)
A for 2245
B for 2246... etc?
That'd satisfy both methods.

I should be a retconner

So maybe they picked a name fitting the batch´s letter?

maybe Earth force wanted to get the ships to spell something out when the Nova's crossed the enemies battle line
<insert insult>
