Question about Beast Form and healing

One of the characters in my campaign uses Beast Form (bear) extensively, and I'm undecided on how to handle damage and healing when the spell expires. So far he's managed to heal up completely before the spell expired, so it hasn't come up, but I'm certain it will soon.

I see four options really:

1) The damage disappears when the beast form spell ends ("exchanges his STR, DEX, CON and SIZ scores for average values of the animal shape".)

2) The damage remains, but as hit points per location are recalculated on his human characteristics, a minor wound might well become a major one. (E.g. As a bear he has 10 hp in one location, and has taken 9 damage, no problem as a bear. But, as a human he only has 4 hp in that location, meaning that once the spell ends he has a major wound with -5 hp in that location.)

3) The damage remains, but as a percentage. (As per the previous example, but the 9 hp damage as bear turns into 4 hp as human (he had taken 90% of his total hp in that location, i.e. 3.6 hp as a human, which rounds up to 4 hp.))

4) The damage stays with the bear form. The human form has taken no damage. But, the next time he shifts to bear form, the damage is still there.

I'm inclined to go with option 2, it feels right to me.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

(For the record, for my campaign I've changed the Beast Form spell to instead of giving 'average values' for the replaced stats, simply keeping whatever was rolled for the human character (probably meaning that races with other than 2d6 or 3d6 as a base for the physical stats probably aren't available for beast form. Which I'm fine with.) This means that option 1, even if easiest, just doesn't feel right. It also feels too powerful.)

Definitely Option 2. Its one of the drawbacks of morphing into another form; its temporary and any damage you sustain won't diminish in line with further characteristic adjustments.

Thanks for the quick reply! (Especially as we're playing tomorrow. :)
