Psion: professional Brain stuff comment

Cosmic Mongoose
Irrespective of its other plusses or minuses, I'd like to take a moment to thank Mongoose and the writer for doing a very good job of describing my field of MacroGeekery - mental disorders.

Specifically, I am so happy that you did not confuse schizophrenia with Split personality that I could do the sprockets happy dance on a web cam for you.....

I could go on about the nice way you intentionally or unintentionally integrated Axis I and Axis II disorders and their expression, but you had me at Schizophrenia -and actually understanding that psychosis is a state, not a disorder was just icing.

NOW IS THE TIME WE DANCE !

Okay. back to arguing about shiruken guns......

Edit: The above is from the consquences of Psionic Trauma section -in and of itself, a wonderful addition.

Heh - and here I was expecting this to be a thread about Mongoose including Anne McCaffrey's Brain/Brawn ships...

The thing about Mongoose's work to date is how they have often thrown in something with a solid basis in Science into their sourcebooks, to add an air of verisimilitude.

Cases in point: the Survival chapter in Scout; the game concept of Stress revisited in Prison Planet, along with Reputation and the concept of the Primacy Game amongst prison gangs; and the descriptions of the various elements of the Periodic Table in Beltstrike.

And with Psion, it's trauma and mental instability - a game concept I can readily expand to cover PTSD, survival trauma and the kind of psychological horror one accumulates over many years' working undercover as an Agent.

Oh. And Reputation as a currency among Rogues and Drifters (and, I guess to some extent, other career types such as career military, Psions, Entertainers or Scholars).

You know, the stress / trauma / reputation expansions may well have to be put in a single book, for players or Referees. Just something to think about for the future ...
