Protection Spell..

When reading the description of the spell, I came to this part and it raised a question. "This stacks with any existing armour and is treated in the same manner." Does this mean that the protection spell also effects strike rank like armor does?

Thank in advance
Cheers

No, magical armour, or armour enhanced by magic, does not count towards the strike rank penalty.

lol Im full of questions today...

True Weapon, when its cast, does it make the item its cast on magical? Also, can True Weapon be cast on say a monsters claw attack?

Yes it does. And consequently visible to Detect Magic spells.

Any kind of weapon can benefit, natural or fabricated. Note, though, that True (Weapon) is specific to a weapon. True Sword cannot be cast on a mace; True Bite cannot be cast on claws.

Hmm. So does being under a Protection spell make successful Stealth skill rolls worthless since the hidden Protected person is still easily detectable by a Detect Magic spell?

Only if whoever's looking for you has Detect Magic cast.

If you have any active magic going on, you're vulnerable to a Detect Magic spell.

Ah! Ok. A Detect Enemy can be resisted with Persistence. Possibly so can Detect Magic if someone has had Armoring enchantments put on their body locations but no other active magic spells are in effect.

Just musing publicly, not really expecting an official answer (though one is always appreciated).

I don't think so myself. I think that's part of the price you pay for being a walking magic item. Detect Enemy is detecting you. Detect Magic is not.

*ponderponder*

So an assassin would likely not have any enchantments or active spells on his/her person..at least if the target has some way of keeping a Detect Magic up. Or the assassin would need to have a high enough Magnitude Countermagic or a sorcerous Spell Resistance in effect at the time he gets within the range of the Detect Magic spell.

Interesting that there seems to be no Divine equivalent to the effect Countermagic and Spell Resistance have on Detect Magic.

Would Detect Magic (or the divine/sorcerous equivalents) be able to detect if someone is Rune Touched?

EDIT: After some thought, I'm thinking the answer to my question is "no". After all, being imbued with Chaos doesn't allow one to automatically be considered magical, does it?

EDIT #2: Gah. Actually, yes it does. If anything, being Rune Touched means a Detect Magic would go off the scale. This'll teach me to overthink a question.

The Shield divine spell lets you choose between applying its magnitude as Armor or countermagic. You can choose some of each.
