Probably me being thick, but ...

Cosmic Mongoose
Mongoose have changed the board format and can't see a way when I am reading a topic to move to the next topic.

At the moment, I have to go back to the Forum and choose the next one, which is a pain.

It used to have a "Next Topic" link.

I see one on the right side of the board layout.

Ah... I see what he means now. It should be at the bottom of the page and not the top. You finish reading at the bottom of the page and not the top, so it should be there.

The new design shows all the hallmarks of Mongoose layout. It's ugly as sin, the Icons are not intuitive, useability is impared. Yuk!

Also the Avatars have gone missing, and even pages of just text are now too wide, rather than just pages with huge embedded images...

Is there any part of the new design that is actually an improvement over the old one?

I presume avatars will be added in over time. No problem for me with text being too wide and I'm only using a normal monitor.

I slightly prefer the forum's colour scheme. The new post indicators are a bit abstract but work ok. As a work in progress it looks like it will be better than the old forums once complete.

Indeed.

On the Top I have a title and some HTML Code:
Code:
Mongoose Publishing
<p><a href=\"http://www.mongoosepublishing.com\" target=\"_parent\">www.mongoosepublishing.com</a></p><p><a href=\"http://blog.mongoosepublishing.co.uk/\" target=\"_blank\">Click

On the Right Hand Side I have a Search box with a magnifying glass, a Search button and an Advanced Search option.

Below that on the RHS I have three buttons - Print, Email and Font Size.

Below that on the LHS I have the following options
Code:
User Control Panel (0 new messages) • View your posts
and on RHS I have three options
Code:
FAQ Members Logout [ soltakss ]

Below that on LHS I have the Moderator.

Below that on LHS I have Post Reply and Search buttons.

Below that I have the messages.

Perhaps I am not looking in the right place, but I can't see a Next Topic link or anything similar.

I have a next topic button in the top right area. See attached pic.

Me too - even if I maximise the window the horizontal scroll bar appears at the bottom

Ahh - Mongoose principles at work again - releasing an unfinished work in progress, rather than spending the time to get it right before unleashing it on the general public...

If it's intended to be (or get) better than what we had before I'm failing to see what the improvements are (or will be)...

I assume the goal was to make the forum look consistent with the new website. I don't think this was a functionality upgrade.

It is pretty, but currently less functional that it was: no avatars, no link to the main site, too wide, URLs in black....

Actually, the main site is a bit like that too: No S&P, no downloads....

Thanks - it works at home with Chrome but doesn't at work under Mozilla. I suppose I'll have to use Internet Explorer even though it freezes up on me all the time.

Hmmm...I see it fine in Firefox. Using 6.0
