Capped teeth or a high-tech muzzle - pick your preference. That's one mean looking Vargr.

Nice Vargr...all too often...the Vargr are protrayed as nice puppies...where are the corsairs, pirates, and other nasties until now I have been taking werewolves from White Wolf products to make my Vargr more believable. Thanks for bringing back the scary.

Indeed, I've always considered Vargr to be more like werewolves than dogs/puppies/Scooby Doo.

I similarly noted the muzzle and wondered why. Is it to stop the guards licking their b%$**s?

Did everyone miss the part in the description where it says that the muzzle is there to stop him biting people (and it muffles his speech)?

The description in the text says that his teeth are capped and the caps are what impairs his speech. There is no mention of a muzzle.

But then, the Vargr has a GUN... where did he get that in prison????

I just figured the "cap" was what was shown in the picture, it doesn't look like a proper full-on muzzle.

Yeah, I was wondering that myself...

Perhaps he is a very good soap carver........

Maybe he stole it from a guard while escaping?

Maybe its his tooth brush?

Maybe it was given to him to sort out that crazy rat infestation in the prison?

Maybe its the GM's decision on why he has a gun :)

personally I think the picture is pure crap, It has made me think twice about buying prison planet.

I realise that this may not be a popular thing to say but the guys at mongoose should get feedback from gamers on things they like/don't like, how else are products going to improve. Without feedback mongoose can't look after the fans. On the positive side the background picture behind the text on page 4 is excellent and very atmospheric. The artist really captures the air of despair in the prisoners leaving the ship. It's more of that we need. Drop the bad pics 'the vargr' and leave the others in. I would definitely order the product then.

I'm sure they are. They improved the character art in the corebook after all.

I don't think the Vargr picture is bad, I do think that he could do with losing the gun though - he's not exactly going to be running around with that in a prison. (and quite why someone that crazy isn't going to be under heavy sedation, I don't know).

Then again, if he just ripped it out of the hands of a prison guard... c'mon people, we're supposed to be playing "let's pretend."

Like the theme - handy to have an adventure for when the players get nailed!

And I've figured out the gun - its the one the Vargr just took off the guard who muzzled him :) (the one who put that on drew the short stick)

... teeth have been capped with plastic ...
If you look at those back canines, he hasn't been capped yet...

On the art work - love the first page!
The cell-block scene while well done is too present day IMHO not to mention inconsistent with the monitor scene on pg 56.
The Vargr is good - though matted fur, chipped claws, 'scars', would add character.
