printer freindly pdf's

You should try those cheap ink carts.
Great value for money and they work pretty good.
Is your printer relatively new , 2-3 years old?
If so u should be able to find a suitable third party cheap ink cart online shop uk.
I've been using them 3-4 years, save yourself lots of money! :D

Unfortunately HP have not allowed third parties to make ink carts for this model :(
The carts are HP 21 and HP 22?
Found them for £9 and £10 online in UK site i use alot.

Do you guys over in the UK not have places that will refill your cartridges? There is a local place in town that refills my HP 78 (color) for $15 and my HP 15 (black) for $10. Which is much cheaper than a new one, I can get both refilled for less than a new black cartridge would run me. Just a thought.

not that I know of

We have a couple of such places in Taunton, and it's hardly the largest of towns.
The main issue with refills is that printer manufacturers nowadays go to great lengths to sabotage any attempts to use refills or third party cartridges, and will use them as an excuse to withhold support if they find out. Whether or not the refills actually are bad for your printer is a separate manner however.

Cheap cartidges or not, its still possible for the "publisher" to adjust pdf's so they are more printer/environmentally friendly

I would prefer simpler pages as well as plain black text on a white background most importantly with no images behind it are the easiest to read. I am printing pages out on a good quality laser printer and still background images or colours are undesirable – worst of all is white text on a coloured background.

Going to a more restrained palette is simpler and cheaper to print as well as easier to read and we are interested in the articles after all not the pictures (the usual excuse of Playboy readers as well I believe). I suppose the production times and costs would be marginally lower as well.

A layout I would rather like is a coloured line at the time which describes what sort of article it is, for example red for role-playing, blue for wargaming and green for terrain. Above it in the header bar is a narrow but full width picture which matches the system – Conan, Traveller or whatever and is always used for that system. This might of course be a terrible idea and you will have a much better one but really simplicity is a good thing when you just want to read the bl**dy thing. I have an article in White Dwarf from 1984 that I was never able to read because some muppet of a designer put an image behind the text. That has always been my talisman of how not to do it.

Oh dear, I seem to be turning into a grumpy old man. Oh well, I can still roll dice even with my slippers on.

How do I get a defalt printer to work on my computer? I recently purchashed a new computer and it has windows vista, my printer is a lexmark Z645. When I installed my printer it set it up as a default printer but it doesn't work. The computer says that the printer is there and ready to use but when I try to print somthing it pulls up a note saying error in the script on this page. Does anyone have a solution?

I'd goto the printer manufacturers homepage and make sure that I had the most recent drivers for the printer, thats the only thing I can think of.
