With the announcement of the end of in-house printing (finally), will Traveller be done in-house or will this one be send to an outside printer? As a store owner, my ordering of any new Mongoose books requires outside printing.

Is there any chance of doing a pocket edition of the game, like you did with D20, Conan, Babylon 5, Starship Troopers, etc?

One problem with an outside printer is that you don't know about any production delays until they tell you...
Everythings fine fine fine until you get a call on the start day with a "whoopsie" unforseen problem/equipment failure and we'll be right back in schedule before you know it yup yup yup...
Leaves one up a certain creek without a paddle.
But then I'm a control freak with a scottish disposition*
And anyone ken why Traveller : Mercenary slipped back to a May release date?

Well they either do it themselves and have the problems that they had recently with printing and binding and covers etc, or they outsource it like everyone else does and are at the whims of Customs, technical hitches outside their control etc.
Personally I'd rather they outsourced it, given the problems they had. Sure, there's cock-ups every now and then with that, but it's what everyone else does and it generally works.

At least the books won't be coming on a slow boat from China, like they did before the in-house printing.

Just an assumption, but probably due to the core book and the campaign book (Spinward Marches) being pushed to April. Even if Mercenary and High Guard were ready to go, they are supplements, so they pushed them back after the release of the core book they are based upon.

As a professional print production manager for a fortune 100 firm I will just say that if an out source did this to us, it would be costly for them and it may even be the last job they did for us. When I issue them a PO it is a contract. They agree to meet the dates in the contract. They loose if they fail to live up to their agreement.Emperor Herdan said:

No idea how customs in UK and Europe work but I'm glad they are using a US printer. When the books were printed in Asia they were frequently held up in US Customs for a month, causing delays for the US sale date.
Hope UK and Europe are more efficient than the US.

Everything you need in a single box - back to the original formats that actually started the industry.
