Well, no-one knows if the course that Sheridan takes is the right one, but I did snicker when he said `then I will set it right`... as he`ll be dead / gone / disappeared for 20 years at that moment.
Well he did mention he'll come back to fix his mistake if it comes to war, and I believe according to the rangers when Sheriden disappeared at his 'death', that he'll come again so who knows.
This lost tale does open the speculation that there might be more B5 stories about David and Vintari as they grow up and so forth.

David is a characterin the Centauri trilogy novels. It is explained that after getting his keeper attached to him (from londo's vase) that David goes to Centauri Prime (under keeper influence) and is captured to lure Sheridan and Delenn to Centauri Prime to be executed by the Centauri (by order of the drahk pulling strings).

David is let go by Londo in exchange for Sheridan and Delenn, which he later releases as seen in War Without End Pt.2 . David has his keeper still but they keep it knocked out with drugs and they get the help of Doctor Franklin who determines the Keeper can only be removed by killing the Drahk who created it and has the telepathic link to the Keeper. With the help of Vir, Garibaldi ambushes the Drahk Shiv'kala who is the Drahk who put the keeper on Londo in Season 5. Garibaldi shoots the drahk and Vir gives the killing blow for revenge for Centauri Prime and Londo. When the Drahk was killed the Keeper basically died and came off of David.
Well he still doesn't appear in the storyline around those years. The books cover many years though, and really I highly doubt the prince spent most of his life on Minbar with Sheridan and folks. He might have hanged around for a while and visited, but doubt he was to become a member of the family. The the books whose outlines were made by JMS himself and all approved by him are basically canon.

I very much doubt that the character of Vintari existed in JMS' mind before say 2 years ago (ie he invented him for the Lost Tales) and wasn't part of the Great Maker's "1000 years of plot arc"

You can't beat a line like "What's up Drakh".
