Pre-game set up, what yer pack'n...

Seems like its kinda slow here around the forums, so thought I would take the time to ask a question about the pre-game and see how folks play it.
Before the game do you show each other what you are playing and allow the other player to make adjustments? Or do you just let them know what faction you are bringing to the fight? Or do you already know what your friends have and have been building your army to destroy him every time? You get the point just wonder how ya play it.

Well, when it comes to BFE I always know what I'll be fighting against. We just decide on a point value and get to it. The same goes for Warmachine or 40K. However, if playing a league game or tournament I always offer to show my armylist/cards and never ask to see my opponent's. But I always ask two things of my opponents before the game: is everything WYSIWYG and what wacky conversions do you have?

Since I think tourneys are the devil, I never have a problem with what my opponent brings. It is never a issue. We agree on a army size, and terrain conditions, then play. Simple.

Lately, we have been playing the "How will this army do against that one?" game. So, both lists are actually discussed before hand.

The most recent was an experiment to see if 1500 points of combined arms PLA could fight a USMC armored platoon of 3 Abrams. We thought not, but I took my PLA into the game anyhow and did surprisingly well, coming within on failed save of winning.

part of the fun of tha game is making the list, we normaly just befor game choose a points value, then buld lists in secret, then set up terrain, then at set up reveila our lists so their arnt to many nasty supprises, also an opertunity to make sure our lists are legal lol.

reason its been quiet is lack of releases, apparently the helis are causing production problems, so why didnt they just release the non copters for the moment ?

We only agree on points, then build forces without knowing what we are up to, and then play.

Sometimes we play "real" engagements, where points differ up to 50%, but mission rules make up for the one with fewers points.

Since my opponent and I both are building as we go, we pretty much know what the other will be bringing. Now if I can convinve him another Abrams is what he needs I can try out my longbow on them.

Round here it seems to be an open secret what we're gonna use. We write our lists on the day most of the time.

And if we wanna do something a bit special we can ask a week in advance so I'm gonna be using a J-12 next week off S&P in a special game and a balanced list in a tournament practice match.

Around here we've had problems getting the newer units, so we basically know what each other has since all know who's playing what army.
