Possible High Guard error persists

Page 65, Computer Table in the Capital Ship Design section; the table still says "Jump Minimum", implying that a 200,000 ton ship with a Core/9 computer system cannot have less than Jump 6

The Sylea Class Battleship on page 101 has Core/9 computers...and is Jump 3. This is correct according to past information.

Therefore, is this table still wrong? Should it read "Maximum Jump" rather than "Minimum Jump"?

Right now I find that table both incomprehensible and misleading, I real-
ly do not understand the meaning of it.

Therefore I would very much welcome a clarified version of the table, if
possible with a few sentences explaining its use, as a PDF download.

Indeed, I think I'm opposed to the idea of computer cores, or at least the way that they are utilized in MGTHG. A merchant ship, even if it's 200,000 tons, not only shouldn't need a computer core, it shouldn't need a Model/9 computer - I could see it needing an M/5, but not more!

I don't feel that I can repost the entire table here, but if you look at Page 65 and follow along:

Ship Size Minimum and Jump Maximum are two different reasons why you would get a certain Core Model. They are not necessarily tied together...

For example:

You want a 25,000 ton, Jump-5 ship.

Per the table, the minimum computer for a 25,000 ton ship is Core/3. The minimum computer for Jump-5 is Core/7.

So, you have to put a Core/7 computer (or larger) on your ship.

Another Exmple:

You want a 200,000 ton, Jump-1 ship:

200,000 tons requires a Core/7
Jump 1 requires a Core/3 (the minimum size Core computer)

So, your ship must have a Core/7 computer and COULD (at least computer-wise) handle up to Jump/5 even though you only have Jump 1 engines on the ship.

You can of course always install a bigger computer, therefore the stats are shown for more than one computer that will handle 100,000 ton, Jump-6 ships. It gives you extra capability (probably for military designs).

Does that make sense?

I think the rule is there more for minimum tech levels for the size of a ship. This way you couldn't have a tech 9 ship at 200,000 dtons. This makes sense if you consider naval ships within the past 100 years. The HMS Dreadnought in 1906 was only 18,420 dtons. While the USS Ronald Reagan in 2003 was 97,000 dtons. Another example is the USS Iowa in 1943 was 45,000 tons.

In 1906 the HMS Dreadnought was the top of its class for warships. By 1943 when the USS Iowa was commisioned it it would have been a considered a cruiser.
