Base your infantry in fireteams to make them easier to move, use the cheapest coins that your country makes or use tiddly-winks or plasticard whatever you like
Also, what size would you make the fire zones.
Make those firezones 3" the same 3 inches for the unit radius
( those SST templates are handy) halve your movement, keep the ranges as they are More accurate representation I believe.
Who makes the 144 scale models? Are they modern?
Modern 1:144 scale is made by many people these days
