Here's an odd question for you.

Does anyone have the stas for the Poni? You know, that mascot of the X-Boat branch of the IISS.
 
Actually, I thought I remember seeing the poni as a bestiary entry from long ago maybe JTAS magazine. It would seem right that your service has an iconic beast people recognize as your logo. Might be a creature very adaptable to various world conditions to use as a low tech rider and maybe pack animal.

Heh. I think the question may have been loosely or incorrectly worded, perhaps this might be more accurate:

"If it's just a stylised image used on a logo, why would anyone need stats for them?"

Though, in answer to your question, I've only ever seen GURPS Traveller stats for them. Sorry.

Fair enough. The poni is a Sylean beast of burden, used as a mode of transport and food animal. I'd like stats cause my PCs will eventually be transporting some.
 
I know I've seen it in a bestiary somewhere. Maybe a GURPS book. Don't think it was called a Poni though in the table. Had a more Vland name.
 
I found some rough stats for the poni in T5, but if anyone has any others from GURPS or anything else, it would be appreciated. I'll have a look though my JTAS issues when I get home tonight.

Whatever you find, you'll have to redo it anyway from scratch for Mongoose.

Oh, I understand that, but at least other stats will give me a baseline to works towards.
 
I have my collection of JTAS nearby and start looking when I'm awake tomorrow. Might have to go through all my other Traveller related magazines. I swear I'm seen it!

So, here's my take on the poni. Not sure if I got the speed right. They're supposed to be able to run at 50km per hour.

Any input is always appreciated.

Originally a beast of burden found on several worlds of the Sylean Federation, this 8 legged, armoured grazer has been spread though out the Imperium, even gracing the emblem of the IISS X-Boat service.

Hits 55
Speed 27m
Skills Melee (bite) 0, Melee (trample) 2, Recon 1, Survival 2
Attacks Bite 2D, Trample 4D
Traits Armor +1, Large (+3)
Behaviour Herbivore, Grazer
 
Sounds good for now until we find an original 'canon' reference. Fast and the eight legs probably make a smooth ride so long distance riding isn't uncomfortable.
 
Seems I did find what would be canon, thanks to mancerbear. Yes, found the reference in T5 for a poni write up. Very versatile creature. Should be part of a future edition of Animal Encounter since it's pretty iconic along with the kian.
