PLA J-12 Fighter search...

I just did a google for this fighter and came up with bubkiss! Anyone have any luck on a 1/72 diecast model for the J-12? I do have a SU-27 I may proxy with if I can't find the J-12.

Well I ran over to fas.org and chased some links down It may be that the camn thing ends up a rechristened MiG MFI. Now That, you can find in 1/72 scale here.

Kinda old though late June 2002....

You may just try an F-22 since I don't think anyone really knows what this beast looks like, not even the Chinese!

to be honest im not sure j-12 is the right designation, and plans arnt to build many as thier not combat craft as such, j-11 would have been better maybe

Awesome....thanks for the links. Too bad there isn't a diecast version. Sometimes the model kits are too fragile for gaming.

I have not tried this yet but I have been considering buying a cheap 1/72 A-10 building it to 60% so that the fuselage and wings are set and then partially filling the inside with self expnading insulation foam. I'll probably break my 1st couple of attempts but what the hell. I love working on weird projects.

make sure the foam doesn't dissolve the plastic. I know a couple of people who tried mixing foam with plastic items and it wasn't pretty.

A good place to get info on anything for the PLA is:

That site has everything - armor, aircraft, ships, including some ATGMs that I'd LOVE to see the PLA get. They need something better to kill Challengers and Abrams with.

The picture is definitely a J-10 "Flirter" (what a code name...). The J-12 is so much swamp-gas at the moment, so why not do the J-10? If you can find ANY old kit of the Israeli Lavi, you've pretty much got a Flirter. 8)
