Pirates of Legend

Is there going to be errata? I just ordered this book through frpgames.com....seems like the swashbuckler heroic ability would be kind of relevant.

UPDATE....or maybe not. Just checked an old copy of Pirates from MRQ1 and it turns out that this is a persistent issue....a listing for swashbuckler but no actual details on what it is. Hmmmm.

UPDATE 2....I think I'll treat it like some sort of prestige title. If you qualify for it, you can officially be identified as a swashbuckler....fame and notoriety will precede you....!

You could always just say that it makes all Evade rolls Easy (+20%) and +10% to Athletics checks to climb rigging, swing from chandeliers, sails and so on at a cost of 1 MP per use.

I like....shall use that. Been reading PoL and plan to do a short campaign soon set in a spooky "On Stranger Tides" influenced version of the Caribbean.

(The Tim Powers OST not the movie)

How do you handle Combat Styles with guns? Or do you just treat them as Ranged Weapons and no Combat Style?

Do you mean guns as in muskets and pistols, or guns as in cannons, demi-cannons, culverins etc?

Muskets and rifles are handled by the longarms combat style. Pistols by the pistols combat style.

True guns are handled by a Gunnery check.

There is a free PDF of new combat effects related to guns that could easily be adapted to legend.

Yes. The link is wrong. It should be: www.thedesignmechanism.com/downloads. This will take you to the downloads page for all free PDFs.

Wow...I've been away for a while due to a sudden bout of unemployment, but that's a nice piece of work.

Has anyone considered running an adventure where a modern person ends up in a swords and sorcery setting in the spirit of Edgar Rice Burroughs or Lin Carter? I could see a cool game there - so long as the fantasy setting that the modern person is transported to isn't Gor ;)
