Piilot Skill Check

Hi,

I'm creating a character with the Pilot skill. I've looked in the core rule book's Skills and Tasks chapter and its Spacecraft Operations (p137) chapter but I just can't find out...

..which characteristic is used when you are making a Pilot check?

Depends, why is he making the roll?

Piloting check to remember regs etc... EDU

Manual docking.... DEX

Which ever attribute is appropriate for the task at hand.

If you look at page 49 on the right side there is a box that goes into this aspect.

I rather like it as it allows for those odd times where the normal attribute does not make sense.

If GM discretion is required then it would make sense for the rules to say so.

Yep and they do. Page 48, right side, 2nd and 3rd paragraph present the idea that the characteristic is open to GM discretion. The box on Page 49 expounds on it.

At the moment I'm working my way through the core book and so some things (e.g. characteristic selection) requires looking ahead. This can all lead to confusion.

I think we all miss stuff. I have ready the whole thing a couple times and some sections many times and I still find things I missed.

That is why I love the team approch here. I can ask a question and someone will have an answer.
