PDFs and bookmarks

The newer Taveller PDFs do not allow us to create bookmarks. Why are you preventing us from adding them?

What program are you using?

Also, convert to .epub format and it shouldn't be a problem.

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9.4.5. I can add bookmarks to the older PDFs. This is a change they have done.

Okay, I understand. Convert them then. Only solution I can see.

Actually I see two solutions. One would be to have them set back to allow us to create our own bookmarks (the best solution). The other is that they add the bookmarks. I would prefer the first solution as I can make sure the quality of bookmarks meet my expected level. Piazo does a pretty good job with bookmarks.

Neither of those two are likely to happen. Unfortunately.

This then leads back to my original question, why are they preventing us from adding our own bookmarks? I did a search on the forums before posting. I did not see an answer from them on this.

I doubt that this is intentional, they have probably used a standard protec-
tion setting when creating the PDF to prevent changes of the PDF and did
not consider that this setting would also prevent bookmarks. I remember
an earlier, similar case with a Babylon 5 PDF where the protection setting
used for the PDF even prevented copy and paste.

You could try to send a PM to Matthew Sprange and ask him for a solution
to your problem, Mongoose normally reacts well to such polite requests.
