Pastures New

Loz

Mongoose
I've just made this post over on Planet Mongoose, but wanted to replicate it here.

After three and half years with Mongoose as a staff writer, I'm now leaving the company for pastures new. An opportunity completely unrelated to roleplaying has presented itself and its one that I don't want to pass by. This has meant taking a tough decision but one that's right for me and my family and so I'll no longer be writing full-time as I have done.

But, never say never, and you certainly won't have heard the last of me in the RQ/Glorantha/Elric fields - however I will be taking a reasonable break as things settle and I adjust to a new working routine. I've just finished 'Cities of the Young Kingdoms' and there are two or three other books already in the production pipeline but after these I'm taking a well-earned rest from furious writing for a little while. I'll return to it when I'm ready for the challenge once more.

I'd like to offer my deepest thanks to everyone who's bought, read, gamed with and enjoyed my work over the past few years. Its been a pleasure meeting many of you, answering your questions and listening to your feedback and suggestions. It makes it all worthwhile and I look forward to many more opportunities to do so. I'm not dropping out of gaming, you understand; I'll be at UCon in November, Eternal Con next June, and Continuum in 2012. I may even be writing again by then and have lots to talk about.

I also want to offer my thanks and best wishes to Matt and the Mongoose team, all of whom have been a pleasure to work with over the past few years. I'm sure they'll continue to support the RQ, Glorantha and Elric lines in the ways each of these areas need to be supported and I look forward to buying and gaming with the books they produce.

So more 'au revoir' than 'goodbye', and thanks once again.

By the way, I'll still be active on the Mongoose forums, so I'll still be answering questions, chipping-in with comments and so on.

Thank you for a fantastic system and some very entertaining reads!

Hopefully we get some more installments once things settle down.

Best to you in your future endeavors.

Thank you for everything you've written for all of us.

All the best in your new endeavors! I hope you'll be recharged quickly and back writing more RQ material.

I'm glad you'll still be posting here.

Steve

Thanks for all the RQ goodness. It's been a great time to be a RQ and Glorantha fan and you've been a major part of it.

Here's hoping real life doesn't get in the way too much...

That is a real shame as you seemed to have revitalised the RuneQuest line very well.
You will be missed.

On a more serious note it may jeopardise your Guest of Honour status for the next Continuum in 2012!

Good luck and good job from a newcomer to Runequest. You and the rest of your team have truly honed this set of rules to perfection far greater than I have seen in any other system in 22 years since I started gaming.

Well, good luck for the future and a a big thanks and congratulations on all your work with RuneQuest et al. The products that have been brought out for these lines this year have been exceptionally good - and you've really forged out a reputation for yourself, I think.

I rank you among the the all-time greats of RPG writing. I haven't seen many other RPG authors who manage to write out 8 to 10 book per year for different lines (you didn't only write for Runequest, but also for Conan and Traveller) with such a high level of quality.

I wish you the best of luck on your new job and thanks for everything!

Loz,
Glad to hear you will be still active in some of my favourite gaming worlds. Thanks for all the excellent RPG publications and the correspondence.
John

That's a sad news for RuneQuest :(

Nevertheless, I wish you the best in your new life, to you and your family :D

I'm really sad to see you go Loz, but I wish you and your family the very best for the future.

MRQII and the other supplements you have worked on are truly excellent. You have my heart felt thanks for being one of the driving forces behind these products and all your contributions toward them.

I'm glad you'll still be around on the forum. :D

Thanks for the MRQII corebook and Monster Coliseum, both of which are top-notch products!

Good luck with your future endeavours. 8)

More than any other title in memory, the RQII core book sparked more creativity in my campaign building and revived the passion in my GMing. Thanks for that first of all (and to all RQ which came before)! What I liked especially was that upon first reading, I constantly had new ideas popping into my head about where I wanted to go with the game world; it made me want to play it and soon in a way other games haven't.

I hope you find the time and inspiration to continue to write material at a less strenuous pace and that Mongoose will publish these works on an occasional basis.

I'm also glad you have left us with enough stuff to run excellent campaigns even without further books and supplements. As a fellow denizen of "Deepest, Darkest Ontario", maybe I'll see you around.

Thanks for your input Loz. You made a big difference.

Fingers crossed that (at some stage) you'll be back to do the Big Bumper Book of EWF fun. You are the man for that job!
