Passenger Traffic Table Errata?

Banded Mongoose
Passenger Traffic chart (main Traveller book, pg 161)

There is no modifier listed under "Current World" for High Population or Low Population worlds.

What would the correct modifiers be for those?

Also, since Errata to the main Traveller Book has been posted as "Player's Guide" in the free pdf section, can we get an updated version to include any additional errors that have been found since it was first written. A new "Passenger Traffic" chart for example, plus anything else.

Thanks.

Thanks for that reference - but is that really errata - it doesn't much look like it (though some things may have been fixed) - more of a players reference...

Uh, there shouldn't be any. That table is for modifiers on the base value of the starting world's population score, so population is already the largest factor in the equation most of the time.

The "Barren" modifier, you'll notice, is set to exactly match the highest positive mod a world could get (and still be Barren), so that even if its an ice-capped Red Zone, no population still means NO passengers. That's the only time a "population only" trade code has any further effect on the table and its just to enforce the fact that no one is home...

I am having trouble understanding the answer. The Passenger Traffic and Freight Traffic tables create values which can go up to 16+. They use the Population Value of the world as the base number, as detailed below, but they do not change the Population Value.

"Add the current Planet's Population value to the Passenger Traffic modifier for current and destination worlds on the Passenger Traffic table, then consult the Available Passengers table." (pg 160)

Now a High-pop world has a Population value of 9+. Let us say, as an example, that our Current World has Pop of 10 and our Destination World is a Rich World.

We go to the Passenger Traffic Table (pg 161) and look under High Population. But there is nothing listed as a modifier. If we were on an Agricultural world, there would be a modifier of +0. If we were on a Rich world the modifier would be -1. But we are on a High Population world, and there is *nothing listed* as a modifier.

So to create our Passenger Traffic Value, we have 10 (current Planet's Population value) + ???? (current world passenger traffic modifier) + 2 (destination world passenger traffic modifier).

Other worlds which have no modifier are listed as a +0. But if we are on a High Population world, I would think that would give a positive bonus to the number of available passengers, just as being on a Low Population world would give a negative number.

What should the modifier for Low Population and High Populations worlds be on the Current World column of the Passenger Traffic table? (pg 161)

What should the modifier for Low Population and High Populations worlds be on the Destination World column of the Freight Traffic table? (pg 161)

I would say that since the current world's High Pop trade status is already modeled by the population number, that there isn't a need to add another modifier to also model High Population.

Thus, you are starting at 9 or 10, then adding modifiers, simply BECAUSE you are on a high pop planet.

No, because that would be counting population twice.

What should the modifier for Low Population and High Populations worlds be on the Current World column of the Passenger Traffic table? (pg 161)

Since you insist, all of those are effectively +0. To be anything else would be counting population twice. The dash means "Not Applicable".
