Paper miniatures

SnowDog

Mongoose
What would be very welcome addition, would be some cheap paper miniatures. I know that this might be a bad idea if Mongoose decided to publish real miniatures but now I am talking about minis for RPGs, like Judge Dredd. I am still using those old GW JD paper miniatures as proxies in many games but it would be awesome to see some new miniatures for Dredd, etc.

I would love a sheet of punch-out minis like what D&D 3e used to do, and what Wizards is doing for the 4e promo stuff now.

One sheet of characters, reversible with male and female on different sides, and several careers and races (human AND alien) for each one. The next sheet could be starships of relative sizes, whole on one side and damaged on the other. Another sheet could cover civilian vehicles or alien species.

I would pay $10 for two or three sheets of minis provided they were made from study and semi-waterproofed heavy cardstock.

I say get in touch with Precis Intermedia and licence them to do some Traveller paper minis - I have loads of their stuff for all genres. In fact I even asked about this on the PIG forums ages ago.

Hi All,

Keep an eye on Glorantha.com as the Unspoken Word plans to re-release there Paper Wars figures for Glorantha, which contains figures suitable for most fantasy genres as well.

These are non-gloranthan, for licensing issues, but they are definitely RQ minis by the one and only Dario Corallo. The first set also comes at an astounding price of $0.

I take back what I said before. We need paper minis. I know that doing a regular mini line can be frelling expensive but doing one on paper isnt. Especially when one could download it off a place like Drive Thru RPG for not a lot. We need paper minis more than we do other new products.

Looks like these guys publish some high quality PDF's. Now if we could only get them to publish something Traveller specific.

Personally I don't much go for paper miniatures. What I'd like to see is flexicard miniatures. More durable, prettier and water-resistant too. I pitched the idea to Mongoose a ways back, but they weren't interested at the time. I still think it's a good idea though.

That sounds like a fine idea. I Contacted S. John Ross to see if he would be interested in concocting something Traveller-specific. Hopefully, he will consider it. He does some pretty neat paper minis called Sparks which can be found here:

Also I just found these

The quality sucks but might work in a pinch

I have, in the past, done quite a few game specific sets, and have worked with quite a few other publishers.

I would be up for traveller specific minis. I realise that some people prefer cartoon style, and i am sure Brett at PIG would also be interested.

I have loads of PIG's Disposable Heroes and would love some Traveller minis, I even suggested it on the PIG forums a while back.

I knocked up a quick Vargr:

It was a 15 minute job, so don't be too critical!

Looks pretty decent for 15 minutes. I'll bet you could make some damn fine pieces with enough time. I would definitely give any paper minis you came up with a serious look. Also, I have looked at Precis intermedia's stuff in the past and the quality is impressive.
