Pak'ma'ra

A couple questions about the carrion eaters:

1) Gentle Beings: Can Crew Quality go below 2? I don't see anything that puts a minimum on it, so I assume it can.

2) Plasma Web: Can a ship split fire from a plasma cannon, using part of it in a Plasma Web and part as direct fire (or in another Web)? Emine attacks can't be split, but from the wording of the Plasma Web rule it sounds like the target is chosen and then, if the conditions are met, the Emine trait is added and AD halved. Interpreting it that way may be open to abuse as just a couple ships could cover a very wide area with low-AD emines all at once.

1) fleet book says "All Pak'ma'ra suffer a -1 to their CQ scores so a CQ 4 would be CQ 3

2) unsure

1\ Unofficial, but I would anticipate that you can indeed end up with a very unlucky PMR crew quality of 1.

2\I believe Matt ruled that, similar to the Triumviron's Hyperplasma Cutter, you can't split fire from the original weapon systems and still gain the benefits of a combined fire mode. I'll see if I can't find the specific ruling and link it.

1) yes

2) No. All of the AD have to go towards firing the plasma web, however in Rulemasters, Matt stated that you can split the e-mine into multiple different blast areas. So if you had an 8AD Plasma web, you could make 8 1AD e-mines in that arc.

Can I have a reference please as page 20 in the rulebook clearly stats otherwise. E-Mines may never be split.

I can't find it at the moment as it was mixed in with other questions, but IIRC what matt said was that the Plasma web was not an e-mine, but had the e-mine trait. Basically the plasma web became the Whitestar/Bluestar killer.

If you could find it that would be great. The only Rulesmasters references to plasma web that I could find where here and here.

Those are the only references I can find. IIRC, the problem was that the Plasma web was not an e-mine, it just earns the e-mine trait or some such thing.

Here's the rules for the Plasma Web:

Plasma Web: When multiple pak’ma’ra ships co-ordinate their attacks, they can create spectacular plasma displays that cover huge
areas of space, trapping multiple enemies in a nightmarish web of energy. If a squadron pak’ma’ra ships with plasma cannon or
heavy plasma cannon target the same area of space (this need not be an enemy ship, and may just be an empty space on the table),
then these weapons will have their combined AD halved (rounding down) but will gain the Energy Mine trait. Heavy plasma
cannon will only retain their Double Damage trait if no plasma cannon are used in the construction of the web.

I would agree with you that they would not be able to be split, and to be honest, that was one concern I had with them originally. The 8 single AD e-mines were death to Whitestars and Bluestars.
