Other Alternatives for Models

Mongoose
Hi all.
I've been fervishly reading up the forum here and at Evo Command in preparation for my first purchase.
I'm gonna take advantage of the free MEA Techs offer in S&P and make a large purchase.
Then i plan to be more economic with my money and i'm open to buying others companies stuff if its cheaper and even if its 1/72 rather than the closer 1/65 (since there doesn't seem to be alot of on ebay.)
Some questions i have:

Anybody know if Tag Assault Groups modern series of soldiers are a similar scale?
Is anybody using old Airfix/Revell/Esci/Italeri tanks/vehicles?
What are good prepainted/unpainted alternatives for troops/tanks etc?.
Some of the names i've come across so far, Johnny Lightening, Dragon Armor, Forces Of Valor.
Thanks for your time :)

Dragon Armor and Easy Model are quite good as source of prepainted vehicles. Matchbox is quite good, if you need technicals (you have to convert though). If you have time to assemble and paint models, the possibilities are endless...
For 1/72 soldiers check Caesar - these guys make very good modern US infantry as well as SAS and middle-eastern urban resistors. Orion makes very good Chechen pack (expensive, but still cheap compared to MP) and Russian Federals. Of course Revell is a good source too.... The only modern range of Metal miniature that scale well with BFE stuff is Eurkea's Kreigspeil line of soldiers. Mainly because they are 25mm. They are however slightly more bulky, but not bad.

1/64 scale corgi stuff is virtually an exact match for scale. They do a Bradley and Humvee as well.

The Corgi Tactical Strike Series works great at 1/64.
I believe these are what Ben is talking about.

Its just the bases that make the infantry seem to tall. But hey it works for Mongoose. I have been getting the Humvees for around $10 and the Armor in the $10-20 range on ebay.
