Original background for ACTA?

I'd be quite interested in seeing Mongoose develop their own background for ACTA. Develop an original universe with new races and new ships and so on.
Much as I like B5, I think it would extend the audience if there was a version of ACTA which didn't use the B5 background.

As a serious contribution, I think this could work well. The B5 TV shows and movies have all been about tapped out for ACtA, so moving to another background would be a good move in that direction as well. My concern would be sculpting: there are a lot of starship minis out there, both generic and non-generic, and I'm not clear Mongoose has the time/resources to wade into that market.

I think this might be the aim of the project they hinted at in the blog sometime ago. The one with pics of CAD designed starships. Could be prepaint space mini's game. Just some afternoon ramblings....

why not reset the time line? when and if they publish 3rd edition/ or some other supplement, set it 10 years after the events in "Crusade"??

Some sort of 2300-esque system, possibly based on the "factions" in BFE might be fun to try. Somehting like the developemnts made by Wessex and Brigade in the "Iron Cow" universe, or GZG in "Full Thrust".
