Organized play in UK

Hi all,

How much organized play is there in the UK? Tournies and that sort of thing?

And while I'm on it, how many people are near Sheffield? I have added myself to the player list but there doesn't seem to be anyone on there from Sheffield.

Will just have to convert a few mates.

Cheers.

a lot of the tournies get posted on here, just keep an eye out. Their were 2 in march i think Aldershpt and wargames workshop, one in ID this month, one at Mongoose next month, plus whatever goes on at the "cons".
You may have thj travel a tad for tournies, or a decent fight even.

Yup, I'm one of the two main guys who are active in the ACtA community from Nottingham. May be a bit of a travel for a one-off game on a regular basis but PM me if you want to organise something or just have a chat.

We ought to set up a club for the Midlands, Triggy. Derby, Notts and Leicester are all close enough together for players to get to a club here. There might be players around here who don't use the forum, so advertising a club might bring them out into the open...

depending on where the club is situated, I would be interested in it. Mainly for weekends though as it may be just a little far for a weekday evening.

Well from my point of view I'd only be semi-regular but would be entheusiastic, and would be happy to get things rolling. A general gettogether would seem to be the order of the day so we could all have a game and a chat. What do you think?

Hi Guys,

I just recently moved to Derby from Belfast and would be interested in doing some gaming if a general getogether is being planned. :D

Certainly worth looking into. For a full blown club we'd need premises, tables and a few bits of scenery. A hall could be hired one day a week for reasonable costs, I expect, and maybe some cupboard space could be arranged. I can ask around for Derby locations, it's pretyt central for Notts, Leicester, Sheffield, Stoke, etc.

If you wanted to look into a venue for initially a one-off meet then that would be a good starting place. I'd certainly like to get together for a game or two (and a pint).

It'll probably give me a chance to actually play ACTA for once, i'm stilll only just getting the hang of B5Wars, not really done much with my ACTA except take it out the box and read the books, lol. But I think taking part in this would really help me get the hang of it.

Strange, i used to live in Long Eaton (between Notts and Derby) for nearly 19 years, and I can't think of any venues at the moment, lol. I'll let you all know if I have any ideas or find anything out.

Valen is my name said:
i emailed a couple of wargame clubs near where i live and only 1 replied and that was to tell me that they had never heard of it!

lol, thats disappointing. Maybe worth a visit to convert them???

Derby is certainly doable for me, if on weekends. And at the moment, the closer to Train station the better, but we are getting a car soon, so that may not be an issue.

Everything in Derby is close to the train station. It's a very small city... :P

If I locate a venue we can reasonably hire/obtain then I'll sort out directions and such for those coming in from forn parts. There are a few community centres and church halls and the like we might be able to get. In fact, I have one in mind right now...
