On the road - NY and Canada

Hi Guys,

If anyone is in the area, I'll be at The Great Canadian Baycon this Saturday (http://www.greatcanadianbaycon.com/) and then on Sunday I'll be calling in to Millennium Games in Rochester, NY.

They'll be some shiny new toys to get your hands on for the people able to make it.

Who says we never give the North Americans some love :D

You ought to come out west some time. Colorado's quite spectacular this time of year. Well, most of the year, really. :)

Use to live in Colorado, and also spent time in Wyoming and Montana. Three of the best states in the Union, IMO.

Real America lies between the two coastlines.

Quite right. Between where the Atlantic meets the dirt, and where the Pacific does likewise, specifically.

Ah, but what does a Johnny Canuck know? I'm still trying to grasp how one can parade around bedecked with dodgy symbols of armed sedition and still claim superior patriotism over one's more progressive countrymen.

Dodgy symbols of armed sedition

I love it!

Last time someone told me "The South will rise again!", I politely reminded them of Shermans march to the sea...

Didn't go over well.

Can't talk for my southern cousins. But here are my view, since I have many Southern Relatives, but white and black.

The Confederate Battle Flag means different things to different people. For many in the South it seems to stand for State Pride. Since really the War between the States were mainly about the Right of the State to choose it's own course without Federal interferance. Or Southern Pride, less they forget the great cost to thier ancestors.

For some it is nothing more than a Flag of defiance, a rebel without a cause as it were.

For others it is a Flag of Terror and Hatred. Not because of the War itself, but the Groups of men that used the same Flag after the War symbolise their movement to suppress the Black vote, and get their Democrats back into office by any means necessary, including murder of Republican politicans and the killing and terror against the Black population that kept say Republicans in office.

Yeah, funny how that works. The Civil War was not initially started over simply over slavery. However, as the war went on President Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, essentially turning it into a war against slavery. Oddly enough, this was more to prevent European countries, who had already abolished slavery, from siding with the South.

Hey Old Soldier, I used to live near Cincy! (Well, Dayton, actually.) How wierd is that?

Who Dey!

I wish i'd looked in the forum last week. I live in hamilton, and Used to be an MI. I didn't go to baycon because last year nothing interested me.

Dammit!!!

A shame you missed us! The demo being run on Saturday was a massive 4-faction battle which started just after 10 and ended when the victorious unit killed the last enemy model at 5pm.

We managed to get some pre-release boxes of wave 3 miniatures to local retailers, so if you're near any it might be worth checking to see if they have any left....

Apparently we get a mention in the Hamimlton local paper today as well who came and saw the game on Sunday, though I don't know what they say!

I Actually don't collect BFevo. I have an extensive collection of The Assault group moderns, but since your figures aren't compatible with them, I don't buy them. It's a shame, i would have bought an entire Chinese army if they had been compatable.

I'm still a huge fan of SST though, I've got one of everything for Arachnids MI and Skinnies, except Slav-related items, Cabal, Exosuits, and an Overseer. I plan to remedy the last two once tehy are released in evo, or sooner if i find a deal.

well if you're back next year, I'll be sure to show up.

Steve
