Omega Command Destroyer

Mongoose
I don't have any standard Omega Destroyers, but the Omega Command Destroyer is trying really hard to tip over. The drill point is way back on the engine section, and, while I glued it successfully, I'm worried it's more than the cheap plastic stand can take. Any suggestions?

I have found that many of the holes (which always need redrilling anyway  ) are in the wrong place and need usually moving - esp on some of bigger ships :)

It looks like they wanted the spinny thing to actually spin (which is does, albeit erratically). I don't want to break the stand as they are really hard to get, so I might just drill something under the ship's nose and be done with it. Where would be a better place for the stand? Would it be stable under the central spinning thing?

i had this problems with all of my omegas....the plastic stand was to weak for the ship. the metal flight stands are better or you use an own solution...Nails, brass rods etc...it is far better then plastic stands.

try using one of the larger GW flying bases (like for a space station or gothic battleship or something) they have 2" diameter ones, a little bigger than the ones used by mongoose. My poseidon has one, and while I don't have a command Omega, I know the regualar omegas were near the tipping point.

i had the same problem, what i did was possition the the rotating section like X that, then drilled through the Rotating section and used the GW base about 1/2 an inch from the rear section, and she stands fine as soon as i get that pot of P3 Ember Orange i'll post a pic of her for you

I did shadow queens method with mine. I glued the X section at a diagonal and then drilled a hole large enough for a square brass tubing to go in. Looks like crap when you see the bottom of it, but the thing does not wobble in the slightest.

I've given up using Mongoose's mounting points. I always fill the hole and find the natural balance point.

yah,but the problem with this method is....by my omegas is the Grav Section movable. i can´t drill a hole inside this point because i want it is possible to rotate it. then you can only use nails or brass rods to mount it on the "original hole". all other is a waste..... :D

If you want the spinning bit to actually spin then just do what AoG inteneded you to do...

Use 2 flying stands, one at the front and onw at the back.
