Mongoose
Just wondering on Matt or anyone else's opinion on the cancelling of Dungeon and Dragon magazines. I personally suspect they'll be following in MP's footsteps with a downloadable mag ala Sign's and Portents.

I know it's not really Mongoose, but this issue is very much at the heart and soul of the gaming industry.

suprised they kept it going as long as they did it  always was a good indecation if it was going well was if you could find it at the main newsagents and havent seen a copy in smiths since middle of last year.

it was a constant in my youth but like most who have kept the roleplaying faith out grew it many, many years ago

That's what I heard at my (now) LGS. End of an era but then again I've only bought a few in the last couple of years. I guess I'm at the stage where I don't need it, but it's a shame.

RIP Dragon and Dungeon. Time will tell if the online version is any good.

Cheers
Mark

anybody remember

VALkyre (not sure on spelling) magazine, well produced a ton of good reveiws every month of games and minis, had rpg scenarios, had wargame senarios, was a damn great magazine.

:(

i yern for a magazine like that again.

actually I believe they're all walking in the footsteps of SJGames' Pyramid magazine, which switched from an print edition to an exclusively online format years ago.

Also, I think that wizards said as much, too, that they're going to be doing it "online" as well.

"Grew out of Dragon"... I suppose... I still read the magazine, and gained a nugget here and there (well, from anything not specifically related to a particular campaign world). I posted at one point earlier in the flame fest that I stopped buying Wizards products because they have lately, well, sucked. Most of my money has gone into Conan of late. However, sad to see the ol' gal go.

Its sad they are gone. They've pretty much been there as long as this hobby has.

As to the impact on roleplaying as a whole ? Zero.
For many years, its just been a multi page advertising for D&D.

never seen that mag befor ! where in bristol can i get it though ?

Like most here I haven't read it in years, but it is kind of sad to see a part of my childhood go. It was kind of comforting knowing it was still out there-being read by some kid who's got it tucked inside his math book during 3rd period...Ah the memories... :(

ARCANE was the single best RPG magazine out there. Sadly it ended many years ago. It was a wonderful magazine with great articles a HUGE review section an great pull out center sections that were a full adventure fully illustrated and statt'd up for multiple systems. I still run the Chinese restraunt scenario every now and then...
