In fairness, the Spinward Marches book does NOT specify months as part of the Imperium's dating system - and the intention may well be that the concept of a month does not exist as we experience it, however the undefined "month" unit is baked into the rules......

Yup, someone here is getting my drift! Which leads to the question in the OP.
The rules need defining as to what a month is and it makes sense that it's 28 days/4 weeks. Which fits in a "standard" year if you have 13 of them plus that party day when everyone pops upstairs for a smoke and you then divide your mortgage payments by 260...
On a positive, they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
If ever there was a place needed filling, it's the Albert Hall!

Ah, found it! MegaTraveller Referee's Companion, page 42 describes the history and reason for an Earth centric calendar and the MegaTraveller Imperial Encyclopedia, page 27.
Based on the time units of the Terran Confederation imposed on the First Imperium by the Terrans and became the standard during the Rule of Man. Date format is a year numbering from 001 to 365 with weeks of 7 days (24 hours) and months of 28 days which are used to indicate time period but are not named. The first day of a year is Holiday and stands alone not part of any week. So, in fact, there is 13 months.
Marc Miller's Traveller, page 185, states weeks and years are not used outside the Solomani Sphere. I think what we see in the contradiction is banks and lending organizations still use the archaic month unit as a unique time unit for the use of business, not too big not too small for loan payments and such.
