Here's a pick of a Nuke Template one of the guys in our group made. It's made out of Great Stuff, that expanding insulation foam. Pic before the battle.

very cool- also i really like the paint scheme on your thorny tanker

I work with great stuff for allot of my terrain I should look into doing this too

Incase you were wondering, this is how I think it was made. Made in 3 sections. Bottom piece, Column is great stuff spread around a cardboard tube, (like a paper towel tube) and top piece. Again I didn't make it so I'm going on memory here of what he said.

Did your friend see the article in S&P Wargamer #39 by Nathan Comanse? After seeing his nice work posted to the forum and before he wrote his article, I reverse-engineered how I thought that he constructed it. As it turned out, I was wrong about how he did it but still liked how mine turned out that I made.

What I did was to use a beverage bottle filled with sand as a counterweight and as the vertical column. For the top "mushroom" cap I placed a plastic sack in a large plastic bowl and then used a can of Great-Stuff. I waited about 20 minutes for the exposed underneath part of the cap to cure from air exposure and then pulled it carefully from the bowl.

Since that part of the cap was not air-dried, it was still uncured and was a bit formable as long as I used my hand wetted down with water. When I got brave and flipped it, it settled a bit over the already hardened outer edge and gave a nice "billowing" look.

Great looking template :) Hope you filled it with lead so you can just drop it on the table and see what dies
