If only Terry Nation had the budgets and technology of modern productions...

Re-watching his work and reading his novels, I see the scripts vision. The production team did an amazing job given their budget - but a lot was left for the viewer's imagination.

Great actors uplifted the production to. There is good stuff being made today, it's just depressingly rare.

N.b. Rebel Moon is getting a directors cut...

Another few things to notice:
Federation ships are a lot slower than the Liberator
there are cultures out there not aligned with the Federation

The thing is it can be as open as Traveller is for PC ideas. Federation groups, outlaws, traders. Tarrant is a great example of a ex-federation background. Dahna comes from a non-aligned world etc. Tech is very well represented by TL too. Federation standard, high tech like the Liberator and Orac, low tech like the medieval-like worlds frequently visited in the series.
