Nolo'Tar and Flyer

That's just the point, they expressed reservations, but didn't act on them until supplied with some form of excuse other than the fact that genocide is wrong... They were sort of saying, yes this is wrong but were going to do it anyway. Which in my mind is worse than someone who doesn't believe what their doing is wrong...

My point was, they actually sought out a reason to stop it (we have reservations, we must make a final decision before the destruction of their world - even if only to find out where there may be any survivors).

I agree they have just as much capacity for evil as anyone else, my issue was with peoples' apparent impression that they were in any way fascist or speciesist against others - that's not the impression I get from the Minbari on screen. Quite the opposite in fact.

Just remember where JMS took his inspiration from for the Minbari....

He took it from medival Japan, expect he slightly tilted the balance to give the Religious Caste more power and influence. The Warrior caste was loosely based on the Samuri, death before dishonour and all that. Yes they are a race that heads towards fanatacism by nature, but the 3 castes work together to try and moderate each other.

When Ducat was killed all form of balance was thrown out the window as both the Warrior and Religious caste wanted to destroy Earth and all Humans. This went against the peaceful fanatacism of the Religous caste and they became more aware of this as the genocide came close to being a reality, there where probably reservations in some of the Warrior caste as well, and when they found "Valen's soul" in Jeff it gave them a reason to stop.

You'd think that the flyer should be in the Rangers list, after all they are heavily (and originally only) supported by the Minbari.

Just to bring this topic back to something resembling the title

Yeah but the bluestar is a more combat orientated vessel, a flyer is... just that, a personal transport/shuttle not really a combat vessel.

(And yes I have seen the flyer stats!!)

Just remembering all the times we see it flown into combat... (against the Streib and in ItB)
Ideally I would've thought the flyer deserves a re-stat to be a standalone patrol level ship (a bit like how I imagine the bluestar). You never see them acting in squadrons as fighters, afterall.

My point was that they already had all the reason they needed to stop it, that nothing justifies the deliberate annihilation of an entire species (from an ethical stand point of course). They had already accepted that what they were doing was wrong, yet they carried on.

They'd didn't even have the excuse that the Warrior Caste wouldn't have stopped without more reason, they didn't tell the Warrior Caste the reason even when they did have it! The Warrior Caste still stopped when they were told to do so.
