Noble Armada: Firing Arc Target Point?

Lancer X

Mongoose
The book explains your firing arc pretty well - a 90 degree arc originating from your model "stem".

However, what part of the target vessel must be in your firing arc to constitute a valid shot? Any part of the target model, or the target model's "stem" / center point?

the target models stem.
if it lies on the line between 2 of your arcs you can choose which arc to use if i remember correctly

Yep, measurements are always stem to stem, and a target on the line between two arcs allows the attacker to choose one arc or the other to use, but never both. That's a change from (for ex) ACTA SFU, where lining up on an arc division lets you fire both arcs.

A rule like that only "lets you" argue with your opponent about +/- 1 degree measurements, hehe!

Thanks guys! I spectated a few friends playing last night, and am really digging the system. Ordered my fleet box and PDF the same evening...

which fleet you going with? good to see another NA player, not enough of us and as you can see we're being swamped by SFU

Standard tradition (inherited from B5 'boresight' guns) is that you only get to do that on something that's moved (or is lumbering, drifting or otherwise unable to change it's bearing) and specifically say "I'm boresighting that ship" when you move.

Makes it easier.

That brings up a queston I've been meaning to ask. In ACTA (any flavor), as I understand it, the ship must start moving straight forward for "x" distance before making a turn. Is that moving -exactly- straight forward, or do you have some -minor- wiggle room of, say +/- 5 or 10 degrees?

I purchased a Kurgen fleet box. I liked the look of the Decados ships the most, but two of our players are already using that faction.

Definitely looks like SFU is taking off - I just hope that Mongoose gets back to Noble Armada production (the new fleet book, the Imperial fleet models, etc.) at some point. I really have little interest in the Star Trek license.

I do like some of the NA ships - the Decados Dreadnought is a lovely model but many of them are a bit small for me :)

As soon as I finish my lunch (!), NA players are going to be getting a nice surprise :)

BTW, if you haven't seen it already, the Fleets preview pages have been revised again, and this time the Kurgan got some major boosts. Every ship in your fleet gained extra damage and some grew more guns or boarding parties too. No new ships yet, but the ones you had got better - your dread has an insane 90 damage now.
