You know the whole site gives one a great feeling of hope for our real future and potential. I know speaking as a parent of a son that wants to study to be a Astrophysicist and go to the US Naval Academy, plus enter into the space program as a Naval test Pilot. I guess he has a good head start being a Life Scout and working on his Eagle project now, being in the Jr. NROTC program in HS...and good grades in HS as well. He has a real good shot at it.
Anyway the future plans to return to the Moon and then on to Mars are real and possible for his era and if he completes all he wants to do he might just do it. Heck if one looks at the fact that he has 57 Merit Badges when only 21 are needed to be Eagle, and he is only a 16 yr old enterring into his Junior yr of HS....if he keeps up his drive with other things like the Order of the Arrow, Getting his HS Letter for Track, and all the other stuff he has a real shot at it.
Now I always wished someone would for our game come up with a Space 1999 Traveller style setting game. Oh I think the Moon leaving Earth's orbit was stupid, but the Eagles and Mk IX Hawks all made awesome sense. Looking at this above pic and the rest of the site pics for this idea, they all work really well.
Also the study of our solar system has alot to explore for quite some time still. Even if we don't currently have the drive system to make it to another solar system yet...we could reach everything else in our own solar system. I think the next 200 yrs or so will be a great time for us to explore our own back yard. I have faith in our race and that we as a race will make it out there. It is our destiny and I believe united we as a race will be out there.

I'm working on a solar system setting book for Traveller called ORBITAL, set in 2100 which postulates a cold war set-up that is driving the expansion of humans into space. Its TL 9 and uses very modern-day technology to try and keep the feel of it familiar and 'near future'. I'm as keen as you on the potential of the next 100 years, just hope we don't waste it all.
