Newhon Review (quick)

I am out of town and left the book at home, but here goes a QUICK review. Some names and places slip my mind right now.

The book as in Lanhkmar follows the story pretty well. To start, my big thing was no expanded map.

The regions covered (as remembered) were Land of the Eight Cities, the Cold Waiste, Illthmar (City of the rat god), and the city that starts with a "Q" and its inhabitants are Necromancers. The descriptions of the lands are quite good. Though the land of Eight Cities and the Cold Waiste are only touched on, but the Lanhkmar book goes into more about them.

Ice Magic is touched upon, though no different spells for it are given.

The campaign "Sword Across Newhon" section is EXCELLENT... and covers just about half the book. It is given in scenes. The PC's start in Lankhmar asked to give a gem (Rat God's eye) to a sorcerer Ning (Sorcerer with seven eyes). They then meet Sheelba. It goes on from there, taking the pc's to a variety of places on Newhon.

Recommend downloading Swords Against Sorcery (PDF)

What i really liked is the way the two main sorcerers are given thier personalities.

In all, it is an EXCELLENT book... Art work, I think is quite good.

No real rule information is given. They show an example of another spell that causes a shark to rise to the surface and die. They need not be a sorcerer to cast it..

Over all rating: A.

I do not want to spoil the whole book, but when I get home, I will let you know. Like I said, I do not have the book here...

Will do the same for Uz Guide to trolls
