New Wraith Commander needs some tactical advise

Hi - i am the new one here at SpellCom ...

I´m running a WR campaign at the moment with six WR4 team members and some NPCs. We startet with the "The Graenwich Crier" from S&P and are now playing the "Campaign 0" with Assignment 0.1 and 0.2 already finished. We are going to finish Assignment 0.3 and 0.4 in one or two weeks. After that, i´m mot sure if i run the "At Your Throat" adventure or the "Campaign E" from the "Enemy Within" book (i like this book so much, it´s perfect addition to the main WR book :) ).

BTW, some questions for my campaign:

1) For what level is the "Campaign E" ? I think Level 2 - 4 would work fine ...

2) For what level is the "Campaign 1" ? On the back of the book, i can read 4 - 6 level, but on the first few pages in the inside, level 7 - 8 is mentioned.

3) One in my group plays an "Avenger" from the PHB 2. We use the Paladin equipment list for him. Do you think, thats okay? Or will be there some new lists in S&P for the new classes from the PBH 2?

That is about right, just be careful about some of the larger encounters...they could get a little hairy.

4-6 can do it with some trouble, 7-8 do it rather quickly. I would likely err on the side of caution and get them to about 6th level before starting it.

The Paladin list should be fine. I would love to do up some alternative stuff from the PH2 classes for S&P, but I don't actually own the book yet...so I can't. :) Maybe later this season.[/quote]

Thank you for your answer, Bryan! Let´s wait and see, what level the group will be after "campaign 0". Maybe then, i will put "At Your Throat" before "campaign E" and then "Mission Pack 1". I hope, this will take long enough until "Mission Pack 2" (^^) is out.

Yesterday we finished the "campaign 0". It was good, but the last assignment was a little bit hard for four players in level 2 or 3. I had to adjust some minor details in the final encounters. But overall, a nice campaign for beginners in this setting.

after that, we starter "At your Throat" for S&P. This adventure is realy a blast! Maybe the combat encounters are a little bit to easy for level 2 - 3 characters, but i think this is not the main thing of the adventure. If they raise the alert level to 4, the mission is nearly failed. Thats the more interesting part of this adventure.

We stopped, after the group reached the house (Alert Level 1, now). They want to climb up the roof and take out the harpy and then climb trough a window in the first floor.

Yesterday, we´ve finished "At your Throat" - really nice adventure at all. Even better than "Campaign 0" with its straight forward "combat encounter/skill challenge/combat encounter" composition. Better maps would have been nice for this.

Can´t wait to play "Campaign E" next.

Are there no other Wraith Recon DMs in this part of the forum?

I am a DM, just not a WR DM.... Why???

I'm starting a non-WR 4E campaign in 3 or 4 weeks, although I own and love the books. The reason I didn't start a WR campaign is that I'm still not clear on how it all fits together... Is WR going to be a full published campaign like Shackled City, a loosely related set of adventures like the WOTC 4E modules H1-E3, or just a setting with some adventures set in it like Forgotten Realms?

What's the product road map look like?

Until then, I'm using the books to give me ideas for my other campaign.

I too am a DM and I actually have been DMing WR over the past few weeks. My players really enjoy the game we are currently running through campaign 0 although i found an adventure book by goodman games and am currently running the group through a side adventure trying to stop a planar fissure and a hording demon.

Regarding to the books, WR will have an "overall" campaign, starting witch "campaign 0" and "mission pack 1".

On Friday we startet the first Mission Assignment of "Campaign E: Shadow of the Hierarch". It was a lot of fun, because of this small "western style" town "Storent". I´d like it.

After "Campaign E", we will maybe start with the Mission Pack 1 (if my players are still excitet about the setting). Most of the team mates will then be abou level 4 to 5. I hope this is enough for the beginning of the Mission Pack 1.

Your team will get the butts handed to them at that level you may want to generate your own quests to level them or just give them the free level to make them about level 7 or 8.

Maybe you are right ...

But we will see. I will be a little bit bountiful with the in the first segments of the mission to push them up a little. :)

Or i will downgrade some of the combat encounter.

Otherwise they are very good and clever players. They´ve finished several combat encounters outnumbered.

Today, my group finished the "Campaign E". Most of them played level 3 to 4 characters and one of them played a level 2 wizard. After the short campaign, the cleric of the group is now on level 5 and the wizard is level 3. the rest of the party is level 4 (or just one step before it).

What can i say? The whole campaign is waaaaaay to easy. The scene in the millhouse was very cool for them, without being detected by the cultists. But all the combat encounters in E.3 were toooooo easy. The fight against the gricks was also a nice one, but they smashed the beasts up with their encounter powers.

Also the fight against the templar. He had no chance against the team (daily powers!!!). They even did not need any help from the dwarfs!

So i think, my team can handle "Skies of Fire" without the correct level at the moment. They are really tough with all their equipment. They also use their powers very clever and they work together perfectly. I will be a little bit bountiful with the XP in the first segment of the mission pack. But i think, they even don´t need this kind of mercy from me. 8)

BTW they are all still very enthusiastic about the whole setting. We´ve played "The Graenwich Crier", Campaign 0, "At Your Throat", "Campaign E" now, and they still want more!
