New Traveller Adventure - Type-S

I hope someone at Mongoose is yelling at DTRPG... aren't you guys losing several days worth of sales for what was the #1 seller there? And that's right in the initial week of release where things usually sell the most copies too.

There all still there.

Then I must be looking in the wrong place - on the main page, and with a Traveller search, all I get are the Core Rulebook, Spinward Marches and Type-S.
If I can't find it, chances are other folks can't either. Are they under the Traveller parameters?

Search using Comstar. They are not Mongoose products and that maybe whats causing the confusion.

I must have missed something (minor spoiler ahead):
Why is it that the ship can't outfly the pyroclastic cloud at the end? Surely a spaceship is faster than 75kph...

The ship had to land to pick up the Vargr family from the downed limo,
and the pyroclastic cloud is only one minute away - probably not enough
time to start and get enough speed to outrun it, I think.

You can determine the object's velocity according to the time it has accelerated by the equation:

v = at

where

v is the velocity of the object.
a is the acceleration, In this case 2g (Thrust 2) or 19,6 m/s² or 64 ft/s² .
t is the measure time in seconds you have to accelerate
at is the product of a times t

Now... first off: 75kph = 20,83 m/s once the ship reaches this velocity it is safe... unless the cloud has already reached it by then... so that is the target to meet or beat.

So how manny second did you have to accelerate again? Does it really say?

Never mind; lets calculate how many seconds you "need":

20,83 m/s = 19,6 m/s² * t

20,83 m/s / 19,6m/s² = 1,06 seconds

So as long as you have at least 1,06 seconds to accelerate you will not get caught by that cloud... during this second you also get to do at least three pilot checks... (really fast ones)...

I'd say it is all disregarded in favor of dramatic tension and good, epic action. Screw science! I want good drama!

But never the less... I think I'll keep the cloud speed to myself and only tell the players that they are in trouble...

(My math is a little rusty so I could be wrong, I'm sure there are math-buffs out there who will prove me wrong somehow.)

mps=kph/3.6

1 RW G = 9.8 mps per second

75kph = 20.8333 mps
20.8333 mps/ 9.8 mpsps = 2.12585034014 sec

So 3 seconds at 1G, assuming that 1G is linear acceleration and drag isn't an issue.

but 75kph is slow for a pyroclastic flow...

100-150kph is closer. Still, a handful of seconds.

And given 2G's, yeah, wolf, your math checks.
