New to Conan

Hello

I was really excited when I heard about the 2ed coming out in August. I just hope it isn't bogged down by too many combat rules this time around. If it's more streamlined, this could be a real success.

Any news on the mechanics? Have they been slimmed down a bit?

As any good publisher, they do not tell us much, but from what I gather, yes, it has slimmed down and trimmed up at the same time. Most of the apparent changes are on Sorcerers.

Good news.

The Conan setting is one of the best. Middle Earth without the fluff

i prefer to think of middle earth as Hyboria without the testosterone.

From what I heard there won't be so many changes in the 2nd Edition. The older books will be quite compatible. New editions of RPG books are generally done to boost up sales, to give the line some new blood rather than just reprinting old stuff.
The good thing about this is that the 2nd Edition Conan will problably be much better organized. There's a Bestiary coming and we can hope to see Classes, Skills, Feats, Spells and so compiled in a single book.
