Hi guys,

Just to let you know, a new version of the Player's Guide has been uploaded, covering many of your recent questions.

Got them just in time for our game tonight and the new aircraft rules overcome the problems with ineffective AA fire very well. With higher speed now comes a higher dodge roll (not that this effects the current planes) , but shouldn't ground attack at higher speeds be less effective to compensate?

We assume an 'attack speed' in BF Evo - planes could travel much, much faster given a free run. However, as we are only interested in what they do above a specific piece of ground, we assume they are not going full bore any way.

OK, let me walk through this, I'm just trying to understand the changes.

An FW 190 is attacking at Loiter Speed and I reaction fire at it with my trusty M16.

The Target number is still 6+ (page 100). I roll 6 D6, re-rolling any misses (Accurate). By some strange stroke of fortune, I get 3 hits.

The FW-190 player now rolls three dice for Saves. Using the better of the two scores, he needs 5+ or better (page 100) to dodge my shots.

If he is at Cruise Speed, the Target is still 6+, but the Save becomes 4+.

Did I miss anything?

Nope, I believe thats wrong.
The M16 is Lumbering and so cannot React and the second number is the Dodge, so the FW dodges on its basic 4+ and Cruise Speed only saves on a 5+. So the speed of the plane does not have any effect whether shooting or being shot at.

This is helpful.

So no Reaction (still learning the mechanics). Instead, this fire takes place in my turn. I can shoot....twice...since it is not Slow?

I read the 5+/4+ (page 100) as Loiter/Cruise. The faster one is going the better the Save, at least according to the updated chart.

Incidentally, because this is a Dodge Save, not an Armor Save, the Piercing trait would not apply, is that correct?

Yeah, you can choose to make an armour save, which is modified by piercing, or a dodge save which can't be modded at all. If you roll a kill result, you can only dodge it.

Don't have the rules with me but I think the actual gun is Slow or whatever (still trying to get to grips with the Traits) so can only fire once per turn.

Correct, the Dodge role ignores Piercing - can't see the point of having an armour value if the Save is higher :?

No Slow trait, unless I missed an update somewhere. I've spent a couple of weeks discussing the relative merits of the Werbelwind and the M16 with a fellow gamer and that's one difference we noted.
