New minis pics are up!

New Models are up:

- Brakiri Courami (or Corumai???) $39,95
- Hurr Gunship $19,95
- Drazi Firehawk $12,95

New Brakiri ship didn't look like a Corumai Dreadnought. I liked the fan designs showed here in the forums a while ago ... and $39,95 for that ugly thing.
Drazi Firehawk, whats so new about that ship???
Hurr Gunship is a bit expensive for its size...

and for the lazy

The Firehawk

hmm, would certainly consider a corumai, looks quite cool, Definate design similarities to the Kabrokta as well.
the drazi ship, um, err, whats different about it?!

I think the Firehawk's engine section is bulkier and has slightly different detailing to the Warbird, other than that there doesn't appear to be much difference...

The Corumai is ok looking but it's huge, why the trend towards such large ships? They show the lack of detail they look clumsey and they make life harder on the table top. Yet another stand in model I will have to get for my fleet :(

The Corumai is fine(other than being too big). Can't say about the Drazi ship as I'm not sure if it's different from other Drazi ships or not. The Romulan vessel fails to impress me though. Maybe it's the paint job.

the Corumai does look pretty cool but certainly not how I envisaged it from the AOG materiel.

looks like they broke away from aog on the design and they seem to be making their ships overly large to compensate, must be the bfg heritage. :P

To say the truth, this Corumai looks more like a classic Brakiri ship than the old one ever did. I have the picture here, but I could never find any similarities between it and any other Brakiri Ship.

About the new one, I like it, but a bit more details wouldn't have hurt. Let's how the stats will be.

Courami: Freakingly big, but then it IS a dreadnought after all - it could have more details, but like the Kabrikta it is in about the same league (details-wise) as th eTashkat, so it´s ok. The only thing that buggers me are the oversized "eindows" on the side - reminds me too much of the boombox. So, while I hope that coming miniatures will continue to improve in regards of details, overall I think the Courami is ok

Firehawk: Not too much change here - it looks like an upgraded Warbird, which it seems to be by it´s description. Nothing radically new, but the miniature fits it´s description. I like it.

Hurr: I still think that the brown of the modelling clay in the preview looked better as a colour scheme than the the painted modell. Apart from that, it´s a completely new design for ACTA, looks appropiatley alien, and should make a fine addition for my league fleet (in both variants)

So, while the new miniatures are mostly still not quite on the same level as<the old AOG minis, there is a definite improvement over the terrible Drakh/Armageddon ships: The previews of coming ships (Psi-Corps carrier, new Olympus) also look promising.

I'd have no problem with the Brakiri DN if Mongoose hadn't called it a Corumai (sp).

Personally, I find it overlarge, crude and unimaginitive, and the front end reminds me irresistably of a horse in a Steve Bell cartoon. But I don't play Brakiri, so I woudn't be buying it anyway.

But could Mongoose not have thought up an original name for this original design?

The same applies to the Cidikar carrier, as I doubt that whatever Mongoose will produce will resemble the original.

That said, Mongoose' sculpting is certainly improving and the new Z'Takk may get me into buying a Vree fleet.

As for AoG, some people regard their work as canon because JMS said it was.

My biggest problem is the detail on these ships. Where is the detail and the texture? I want to see seams, panel lines, guns, and windows.

I don't want to see detail painted on the sample models -- it should be on the surface of the cast model. Look at the AoG ships and you'll see what I mean.

One comment about the Drazi Firehawk (even from the most ardent purple drazi admirals!) is why bother buying the Firehawk?
It just looks to similar to previous Drazi ships and people will just use the drazi ships they have as substitutes.
Thats not good when your in the business of selling models! :)

I don't play Drazi (yet) but I couldn't tell the difference.
