Mongoose
I made a ship movement game aid and tested it this last weekend. Here are some pictures of it in use. Let me know what you think.

I made one for every turn type and the normal speeds(power drain, normal, fast, allpower and fast all power).

I like the idea, but it doesn't allow for moving further than your initial turn number, then making your first turn. I wonder if a set of them that weren't connected might be more functional.

Get's me thinking...

Yes you can you just align the first two segments in a straight line. And then turn the next segment to the angle you are wanting to turn. If you want to just move straight ahead you just align all segment in a line a it becomes a 12" ruler or what ever you max move is at the time. :)

But what if your turn is 4" and you want to make a 45 degree turn at 5", then go 7" and turn again. The template doesn't easily give you that flexibility if you attach one end to the base.

I'm thinking that having separate pieces, that can just be placed on the point of the turn might be better. They would each be at least 6", and if you had say 4 of them, they could be used by any ship of any turn ratio just by proper placement.

Anyway, I think it's a cool tool you made, just looking to "improve" it.

And what bout for fast ships?

And what about moving 5.5" and then turning?

The best ruler would be 21" and have 1" segments after the first 3" strait segment.

It never dawned on me you could do that. I was thinking your only options to turn were at your turn value. let me think about that I could passably connect them with snaps then you could assemble what you need. Thanks something to think about.
